Russian school on Madeira

On October 23, 2018 on the island of Madeira, in the city of Funchal, the grand opening of the Russian A.S. Pushkin, attended by Russian Ambassador to Portugal M.L. Kamynin, President of the island Miguel Filipe Machado de Albuquerque, as well as the Dean of the parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in Portugal, Archpriest John Gerbovetsky. During the opening of the school, the president of the island stressed the importance of relations between Madeira and Russia and recalled that this relationship has existed for about 300 years: “Relations between Madeira and Russia begin in the 18th century and have developed in two directions: business and tourism.”

The Provost also visited an exhibition of Orthodox icons, held on October 18 at the Museum of Spiritual Arts of Funchal, timed to the National Day of Cultural Values ​​of the Church.
