An archpastoral visit of Bishop Nestor to Marbella took place

From September 7 to 10, Bishop Nestor, the Governor of the Korsun Diocese, was on an archpastoral visit to the south of Spain, in the Costa del Sol region (“Sunny Beach”).

On Sunday, September 9, Bishop Nestor led the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord in the city of Marbella, co-served by Archpriest Dmitry Osipenko and Deacon Igor Budnik.

An important part of the archpastoral visit was the official opening of the construction site at the site of the future Ascension parish temple complex in Estepona. On September 10, Vladyka performed a prayer service at the beginning of construction and consecrated a worship cross. In a speech after the moleben, Vladyka Nestor addressed warm words of gratitude to the mayor of the city, José Maria Garcia Urbano, who fully supports the Orthodox parish and allocated a vast plot of land for the new church (5850 sq.m.): the long-term lease for 75 years was free of charge basis.

The archpastor addressed words of gratitude to the leaders of the Orthodox Initiative Foundation, who took over the costs of building the temple complex, as well as to architects Miguel and Diego Tobal from the architectural bureau Tobal Arquitectos and the construction company Jamena.

Vladyka Nestor called on God’s blessing on the construction participants and wished them strength so that they could fulfill their good intention and complete the work by the end of 2019.

The celebrations of the Orthodox parish were covered by regional mass media (see materials in Spanish under the links Diario Sur and La Tribuna).
